Josefina Isaza
As a ceramicist, I am constantly aware of the way that my body moves. Every move I make is a decision that will lead to the transformation in the clay I work with. I find this has meditative qualities, which in turn is conveyed in the work. The work has a highly visual and tactile surface informed by my love for nature and fine detail. Upon creating these works, I intend to provoke multiple sensory modalities, and thus spark a curiosity within the viewer. My work demonstrates how visual stimuli can be achieved by grouping single elements to form a larger gestalt whole, as reflected throughout nature.
