Sarah OBrien
Stirring something, not a story, but a moment. An instinct, an invitation for inquisitiveness. A starting point for a conversation either inward or outward.
I like to tug at those instincts we push further and further away as we get older. Glee, wonder, awe, mystery. Lifting the jaded filter we’ve all acquired and getting us back to our base instincts.
I evoke instincts and emotions and questions that fuel conversations by utilizing the levers of multiplicity and juxtaposition.
In this time of surface-level discord, there are larger richer conversation that needs to be had, and it seems healthy in a universally human way to explore things that stir at the base of our emotions. Something simple, but rich and complex not only in its aesthetic but in the conversations it evokes in the minds of those who view the work.
Exploring the capabilities of the material; making objects that stir our emotions and drive curiosity about our ways of thinking and reacting. This is what I do.
