I find the infrastructure that I exist in, fascinating and stimulating; it insinuates a sense of comfort, a place that feels like home. I enjoy focusing on the lines, shapes and forms that are used to create these environments I interact in. Often, I find myself taking photographs to remember and appreciate these wonderful places. These images are then used as references by taking the simple forms, of these complex structures, to use as a base for the new structures I create. I want to give what I see and appreciate, a new life and story by altering, simplifying and repeating these architectural shapes and forms. The colors used in my work are also influenced from the photographs I take. I am drawn to earth tones and bright colors for their ability to create a safe and neutral space for my viewers to engage with it. My intention is to activate the viewer through my process of making, while allowing them to still form their own interpretation. The process of abstracting structures and forms is what gives my work the ability to interact with the viewer based on their own perspectives.
