Annemiek Hamelink

Annemiek Hamelink creates happy whimsical porcelain, from functional pieces to sculptural, jewelry and lighting. She draws her inspiration from animals, nature, folklore and fantasy. Her fascination for the transformative nature of heat and fire comes from the days when she watched the burning of the pruned branches in her father’s orchard. She lived in Ireland where she got to know handmade ceramics, but it wasn’t until she returned to mainland Europe in 2000 that she started learning hand building ceramics herself. When she discovered porcelain during one of those courses she had found her favorite medium and started to develop her typical delicate style. Since 2009 she is selling her work online and via various art and ceramic events in the Netherlands and abroad. She keeps on developing and perfecting the tiny creatures that live in her happy whimsical world. Her work is to be treasured and as such a statement against the throwaway culture. She loves that her works sets the child in grown-ups free and lights up their imagination.
