Myra Bowie
Myra Bowie Ceramics (My's Pots) creates functional wheel thrown pottery, in mainly porcelain and stoneware, fired at cone 6 or 10. The work although functional in nature is inspired by the colors and items I find washed up on the shore on the Carolina Coasts. The pieces for this show are smaller versions of my regular work using black clay, a departure from my porcelain work. This change has given me a new perspective on glazing using a dark surface as the base of my work, but still bringing in the colors , I cherish from the beaches that I visit.
Myra Bowie Ceramics is also the owner of Terrace CLAY Studio a small public studio nestled in Riverland Terrace, Charleston, SC.
