Emily Manko

With only the glint of an objective the tactile nature of clay in an undefined state invites you to create anything from nothing. My work investigates an imaginative look at what process looks like in a literal form. Stages from initial idea to tangible product are layered in through a playful self-appointed symbolic language. Blending slab work, hand-built and slip cast methods, I construct my objects playing with contrast between the engineered and the undeveloped. Some trompe l’oeil elements as well as mixed media materials are woven in to portray my overall viewpoint in each piece.
