In my recent work, I have been thinking about my own feelings of nostalgia and loss while considering the collective memories and trauma that are woven into society and how to navigate these experiences. Through stark black and white forms, I use imagery in my work that is at times somber or that might symbolize or hint at a darker story line, but which feels visually approachable. I'm seeking to evoke positive recollections that tap into pop culture, music, literature, and other common social touch points that I have a strong connection to. I hope my work will produce a sense of pleasant nostalgia in the viewer, while also offering a reassuring tip of the cap, as if to say, "we're all in this together."
