MORE THAN 50 YEARS OF PLAYING IN CLAY: Primarily self taught and on a limited budget, at first I fired pots in a tiny test kiln with a firing chamber 6"'x6"x6"', so was limited to tiny pots. Sales a few years later permitted a bigger kiln and larger scale work, but In 1976 a new baby and introduction to 1" to 1' miniature scale cemented my involvement in small scale work, permitting me to be a full time potter within the framework of family life. I'm known for my mini replicas of traditional pottery, but creating pottery of my own design and continual and often offbeat experimentation have been my real joys over the years. Now in the waning years of my career in a senior living community without a studio of my own, small scale is again a way of continuing my involvement with clay. I’m still taking the oddball route, however, designing and firing my own mini primitive kilns and also experimenting with firing low fire glazes with a propane torch.
