Nasrin Iravani
Through an exploration of the dialogue between traditional and contemporary art, my abstracted ceramic forms represent simultaneously the strengths of both tradition and modernized elements. I juxtapose these two concepts in physical forms to make a bridge between traditional values and modern concepts. Meanwhile, I maintain a painting practice that varies from my sculpture in order to assert a balance between geometric and organic patterns. Compositional equilibrium in my painting points towards traditional Persian art notable for an exemplary combination of geometric and organic shapes. Existing in opposition to each other, my sculptural forms highlight a relationship between the human body and organic forms, natural and synthetic processes.
