What started as a hobby making miniature accessories for my pet Madagascar Hissing Cockroach has turned into a full focus on the miniatures (RIP to my pet of three years). I work primarily with polymer clay to craft miniature scenes at a 1:16 dollhouse scale, though I allow myself plenty of wiggle room. My favorite subjects are food items, and my miniatures are both inspired by and an inspiration for my life-size meals. At times, I’m reminded of playing a game of pick-up sticks or Operation as a child; working at a miniature scale has forced me to be intentional with my movements, something I’ve hoped will seep into other parts of my life.
