Pottery is an ancient craft practiced by peoples around the world. Creating pottery gives me a sense of connection to that past which has echoes in my work. Present day sensibilities, however, inform my work as well as does a sense of whimsey. In addition, pottery gives me a sense of closeness to the earth through the four elements: earth, air, fire & water all of which are used in the production of pottery. I try to express those elements through the choice of clay, form & glazes.
