I am a ceramic artist making small-batch pottery with an organic, minimalist feel, focusing heavily on the tactile, visual, and spatial characteristics of each piece. Recently, I have been exploring the juxtaposition of identity and family history. I am interested in the cross-section of inherited heirloom objects and the passing down of generational stories and traits. Through this lens, I am examining how we navigate loss and our own self-image after the majority of family members pass on. I am currently thinking about how these objects and memories reference each other in our minds—how our histories and memories eventually begin to blur, while the physical objects remain.
