Mari Emori

I was born and raised in Takaoka, Japan, and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1989. I received a BFA with honors in Graphic Design from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2012. I have always been drawn to the creative arts and to the essentials of design. My education and past professional experiences range from kimono design in Japan and floral design in the U.S. to interior design and graphic design before I found my calling in clay. My life experiences have greatly influenced my work. Each area of design that I had explored has helped me to hone the discipline and skills that I now use to create artworks in clay. I have a private studio at Berkeley Potters Guild in Berkeley, California, where I create and sell both sculptural and functional ceramic work.
