Laurie Carretta

Fairy tales, folklore, and myths have significantly influenced my life and art. The framework they provide for creatively conveying emotions is what I strive to achieve with my work. My ceramics are inspired by nature. They start as organic forms, which I transform into meaningful objects. In addition to patterns or imagery, I will often add a whimsical element to further the narrative of the piece. Each of my works stands as a simple, purposeful object that expresses part of a story, to be interpreted by the viewer’s imagination.
