William Reeder Fahnestock

Reed is Studio Manager at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Midcoast Maine. Among his many duties, Reed acts as an interface between the residents and the facilities by maintaining the kilns and equipment, stocking materials and providing safety and technical information and oversight for staff, assistants, and volunteers. He oversees building maintenance and grounds, makes public appearances, facilitates community firings, participates in community-events, assists in long-term planning and advises the Director and the Board. Additionally, Reed leads several glaze and kiln-firing workshops every year. A Midwesterner by birth, Reed received his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. He was awarded his MFA from Kansas State University where he studied with Yoshiro Ikeda, Anna Calluori Holcombe and Dr. Glen Brown, was awarded the Strecker-Nelson Gallery MFA Scholarship, designed and built a new wood kiln, and taught beginning and advanced ceramics among other courses. He was the inaugural artist in residence at Pinon Hill Pottery in La Veta, Colorado and was an artist in residence for two years at Pope Valley Pottery in the Napa Valley in California.
