Sara E Morales-Morgan

My artwork explores my notions of identity, health, and life to discuss universal experiences. I use a personal vocabulary of imagery and symbolism to illustrate open narratives that invite viewers to imagine their own stories and relationships. Flowers play a large role in my work. They have rich historical correlations to communication, and brief, beautiful life cycles that remind us to appreciate life and acknowledge death. Floriography, or the use of flowers for communication, has been practiced in many cultures throughout history, and today we continue to use them to express sentiments for one another. In my work, I use flowers to symbolically communicate and manifest specific feelings and to reference the transience of life.
