The Clay Studio offices, galleries, open studio, and school will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2025, in honor of the Independence Day Holiday.
Julia Browne Jackson
Originally from England, Browne came to the US and attended the School for the American Craftsman at Rochester Institute of Technology. There she studied with Franz Wildenhain, whom she sights as a major inspiration to her artistic career. Browne taught at the University of Illinois at Champagne-Urbana, and then at Philadelphia College of Art (University of the Arts) in the 1960s and 70s, and at The Clay Studio in the 1980s and 90s. Well-known in Rochester, NY, her work is not well known in Philadelphia, we hope to introduce a new hometown audience to her expressive and painterly ceramic art.
