Clay is my vehicle for story. Through form, function and surface, the stages of humankind are found on vessels, walls and sculpture made of clay. I enjoy the immediacy of the material and the ability to combine multiple fields of expression. The vessel is often the first part of the message, as a ritual element, a means of nourishment or simply a way to contain-hold- any number of feelings or memories. The surface treatment allows for my pleasure in drawing and my history recorded in line. The images are specific for me but universal as a conduit for others’ narratives. We, as a species, evolve from knowing ourselves and understanding each other’s stories. I hope that, in sharing my work, I can connect to others and assist in their growth.
