Artist bio:
Jeanne Blissett Robertson is a ceramic artist whose sculptural practice is inspired by the history of science, mythical stories, symbols, and the cross-over of man-made and natural environments. Her pieces often possess qualities of other materials such as metal, wood, paper, crystal, and ice to engage with different story-telling devices. She works with a range of clays and firing techniques. A large part of her practice involves collaborating with environmental scientists. This includes a recent collaboration with Earth Scientist Dr Jon Hawkings and a field trip to Greenland. Inspired by this journey she created large soda-fired porcelain icebergs that fuse organic forms and decorative design details for her solo show ‘Another Way of Knowing’ at The Clay Studio. Installed in immersive environments, her work opens space for contemplation and re-enchantment, offering new ways of relating to the landscape and the times we live in.
She has a BA in Sculpture and Environmental Art, Glasgow School of Art 2015, and recently completed the 3-year artist residency at The Clay Studio Philadelphia.
