This workshop includes a demonstration of clay hand building techniques using alternative armature structures (such as building on rope and string). In addition, Sara Parent-Ramos will discuss incorporating both non-ceramic materials (such as nichrome wire) and re-fired ceramic materials into ceramic work. Discussion centers on the possible firing issues and structural challenges that arise when employing alternative building processes, in addition to strategies that can be used to foster material experimentation.
